We have won a number of awards including those from the RIBA, awards for craftsmanship and international superyacht awards. Some of our projects have been featured in articles and book publications.

THE SUNDAY TIMES BRITISH HOMES AWARDS 2015 - SHORTLISTED 

The competition was to design a house to solve Britain’s housing crisis - one of the most important architectural challenges of our time.  Our design was an upbeat take on the immensely successful pattern of terraced houses. The results were featured in an article by the Architects' Journal, read it here.

RIBA SUFFOLK CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS 2015 -
INDIVIDUAL AWARD

Chestnut Lodge received an RIBA Suffolk Craftsmanship Award 2015 for the superb carpentry in the project.  The main contractor was John W. Younger.

RIBA SUFFOLK CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS 2014 - AWARD

New Bells Farm received an RIBA Suffolk Craftsmanship Award (formerly Suffolk Association of Architects’ Craftsmanship Award) in the Major Alterations and Extensions category.  The main contractor was Gipping Construction Limited.

THE SUPERYACHTS 2012 SILVER ANNIVERSARY EDITION

This publication featured a guided tour of the Motor Yacht Lady Christine ‘one of the world’s finest new private luxury yachts’.

INTERNATIONAL SUPERYACHT SOCIETY AWARDS 27 OCTOBER 2011

Rodney Black Design Studios won two Neptune Awards at the ShowBoats Design Awards held at the Mar-A-Lago Club, Palm Beach, Florida for the Motor Yacht Lady Christine.

SOCIETY OF BRITISH INTERIOR DESIGNERS INTERNATIONAL DESIGN AWARDS 2011

Finalist in the Best Luxury Space category, Paris, 11 September 2011.

WORLD SUPERYACHT AWARDS 7 MAY 2011 

The Motor Yacht Lady Christine received the Judges’ Special Award at the prestigious 2011 World Superyacht Award ceremony held at the Guildhall, London.

SAA CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS 2011

Oaks Barn received a Suffolk Association of Architects’ Craftsmanship Award for a swimming pool in a new barn with floating roof. The main contractor was Rose Builders.

THE YACHT REPORT NOVEMBER 2010 ISSUE 118

Motor Yacht Lady Christine featured on the cover with the headline ‘The Eighth Wonder of the World’ described over ten pages of editorial and images together with the full Feadship press release.

BOAT INTERNATIONAL OCTOBER 2010 ISSUE

13 pages of photographs and description of the Motor Yacht Lady Christine showcasing the yacht’s appearance at the Monaco Yacht Show 2010. “Lady Christine has an interior of exceptional quality, most of it the responsibility of a designer new to yachts, Rodney Black, whose vision of early art deco has a freshness and elegance that breathes new life into this sometimes hackneyed style.”

SAA CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS 2010

Wood Farm Barn received a Suffolk Association of Architects’ Craftsmanship Award for the green oak timber frame constructed and erected by Ron Ames and sons, Mark and Tom. The main contractor was A. Porch & Sons.

SAA CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS 2008 - AWARD

Hintlesham Priory received a Suffolk Association of Architects’ Craftsmanship Award for the major alterations and extension work. The main contractor was Rose Builders.

SAA CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS 2006 - SPECIAL AWARD

The Priory was the Winner of the Special Award as an example of outstanding merit. The main contractor was Rose Builders.

RIBA SPIRIT OF INGENUITY AWARDS 2005 - AWARD AND TWO COMMENDATIONS

Ash House received the Landscaping Award and Dairy House Farm received two Commendations, one for Landscaping and the second for Heritage.

SAA CRAFTMANSHIP AWARDS 2005 - AWARD

Wood Farm gained a Suffolk Association of Architects’ Craftsmanship Award for the work undertaken by De Kewer Gale Builders.

HOME UK PUBLISHED 2004

Geary and Black are the featured architects with a double spread entry in this highly informative publication by Helen Kirwan-Taylor, well known author and journalist.

GEORGIAN GROUP AWARDS 2004 - SPECIAL COMMENDATION

Rose Cottage received a Special Commendation in the category New Building in a Georgian Context.

RIBA SPIRIT OF INGENUITY AWARDS 2004 - TWO AWARDS AND SHORT-LISTED PROJECT

Two of our projects were shortlisted for awards. Short Hoo and Wood Farm in the Home category and Wood Farm in the Heritage Conservation category. A double award - the Home Award and the Heritage Conservation Award - was made for our work at Wood Farm. 

RIBA COUNTRY HOUSE COMPETITION - HIGHLY COMMENDED

Our competition entry to design a new country house in the Cotswolds for Mr. and Mrs. David Cardale was highly commended by the judges. 

SAA CRAFTSMANSHIP AWARDS 2003 - AWARD

The White Lodge, near Woodbridge, Suffolk, gained a Suffolk Association of Architects’ Craftsmanship Award. The main contractor was Robert Norman Associates.
